K-5 Academics

Our Faith in Learning guides everything we do in the classroom. In a school where teachers know every student by name, we aspire to make learning personal. We shape our students in strong academics and a foundation in faith, while working to meet each child where they are.

Students study Math, English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies and Religion every day, progressively building knowledge across subjects year over year.

Math
Curriculum

Our math program builds upon concepts, giving students a strong and connected understanding of numbers, operations, and problem solving. By the time students leave 5th grade, they are ready for the rigors of middle school math.

Literacy & Language Arts

Heggerty phonemic awareness and the SuperKids ELA program by Zaner-Bloser serve K-2 students, while grades 3-5 use CKLA by Amplify; curriculums focused on knowledge-building and designed on the science of reading.

Faith & Community

Religion is an integral part of every school day as we strive to deepen each child's relationship with God and knowledge of our Catholic faith. Activities including songs, art projects, games stories, and writing projects help integrate our faith into daily lives.

Enrichment Specials

Art, STEM, Library, Music, Spanish and PE are part of every student's week. Each discipline has its own dedicated program. Learn more on our Specials page.

Our teachers are NC State and/or Diocesan certified, and many hold advanced degrees and specialty certifications.

Shamrock Time

SMALL GROUP LEARNING
During Shamrock Time, students in Math and English Language Arts gather in small groups with peers who are at a similar pace in their learning. Some groups may go deeper into concepts they have mastered, and some take more time with material they are still building. No student misses instruction thanks to Shamrock Time.

This is one of the ways our size works in our students' favor. When teachers know every child, small group learning is more than a program, its simply how we teach.

Assessment & Progress

HOW WE USE IREADY & DIBELS
We assess students three times a year using iReady & Dibels - at the start, middle, and end of the school year. These snapshots help our teachers see where each student is and adjust instruction accordingly. The data informs the classroom but does not outweigh it.

Our students spend their school day learning with their teachers, not in front of a screen. We maintain a disciplined device policy that keeps face-to-face instruction at the center of every school day with technology used to supplement instruction, not replace it.

Families are welcome to use iReady at home as an optional supplement during the school year or over the summer. We do not require module completion as part of a student's grade or coursework.
