Dear Parents,
I appreciate all of you who have expressed interest in volunteering at Saint Patrick Catholic School . I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the requirements set forth by the Diocese of Charlotte for volunteers who work regularly with children or periodically with individual children or small groups of children. This information is needed if you plan on chaperoning a field trip, coaching a sport, assisting with an extra-curricular club, helping in art classes, helping in computer classes, or tutoring small groups of children, to name a few. This information is not needed in order to help in the cafeteria or simply visit for lunch or a special day in the class.
The following are documents that the diocese requires:
You must have Abobe Acrobat Reader version 4 or higher installed on your computer to read these files. If you do not have Acrobat Reader, please [click here] to download the latest version.
· Volunteer Profile Click here for this form
. Diocesan background check Click here for this form
· A signed copy of the Acknowledgement of Receipt of Sexual Misconduct Policy. The Policy of the Diocese of Charlotte Concerning Ministry-Related Sexual Misconduct by Church Personnel can be found on the diocesan website at www.charlottediocese.org on both the “Protecting God’s Children” and “Human Resources” tabs. If you do not have access to the Internet, you may pick up a copy of the policy from our school office.
· Verification of attendance at one of the diocesan Virtus training workshops, Protecting God’s Children. Sessions are scheduled throughout the diocese on a continuing basis, and are facilitated by diocesan employees and volunteers who have undergone extensive training themselves. The schedule of upcoming workshops is posted on the diocesan website and on the Virtus website at www.virtus.org. Pre-registration is required for all workshops. This may be done through the Virtus website. The registration password is “trust.” Some local parishes host workshops, including St. John Neumann, St. Luke and St. Matthew. You may also obtain schedule information from the diocesan Human Resources Department (704-370-6299).
If this information is not on file in the office, you may not volunteer for the situations previously mentioned. If we have this information on file from a previous school year, you do not need to resubmit any of those forms.
I am most grateful for you taking the time to complete these requirements. Please remember that this is put in place to reduce the risk of harm to our most precious gift, children. I appreciate your understanding the need for this.
Yours in Christ,
Debbie Mixer
