LEARNING SUPPORT PROGRAM

I would like to welcome you back to St. Patrick Catholic School for the school year 2007-2008. I’m very excited to begin working with the students at St. Patrick Catholic School. Learning Support was created for the purpose of addressing the individual student academic difficulties.

If you have any concerns regarding your child:

1.    Schedule an appointment with the child’s classroom teacher.

2.    Work with your child’s teacher and your child to help accommodate the difficulties.

3.    If your concerns continue, the Learning Support Teacher (LST) should be consulted.

4.    A written referral may be requested to allow the LST to conduct an observation.

Possible outcomes are:

1.    The LST will consult with the classroom teacher.

2.    Classroom modifications may be implemented.

3.    Your child may be offered direct Learning Support services.

4.    Informal assessments may be implemented by the LST.

5.    Formal assessment may be recommended.
